On Going
When I think about relationships with people, I sometimes wonder if there is an expiration date.
I have been photographing certain people for a long time. First, my grandfather Takuji Wakagi, who is about to enter his 20th year of photography, and the two people in this exhibition, Ei and Hiro-chan. They are all people close to me. I live in Tokyo and take fashion and advertising photos for work,
I often go back to Hamamatsu, my hometown, to take their pictures. By photographing them, I always feel as if I am recovering something important. At the same time, I feel as if I am losing something. But I don't want to write about that now, because I don't know for sure.
I dedicate this book to Ei and Hiroshi. I am grateful to have been born next door to them.
BOOK PUBLISHED ON JUNE, 2004.
